Day 4 Being awake

There were donut holes at work today. I never really had a problem passing them up and today was no different but I found myself noticing how many people ate them and how many they ate. All I could think of was how sluggish they probably would feel in the afternoon.

After day 4 I really do notice a difference in my energy. Although I got very tired around 3:30 today it was a different sort of tired. I had back to back meetings all day long and it was no wonder I felt tired. But I wasn't cranky tired like I usually get.

I had a half bowl of cereal this morning. I was too full to eat the whole bowl. At my 10:00 meeting I munched on some almonds while the donuts were being passed around. For lunch today was a baked sweet potato and split pea soup. The soup was really excellent. I found it at the whole foods store and I'll have to go back and look for it again (hope I remember the brand).

I had some hummus with mini gluten-free bread sticks in the afternoon and a few corn chips and a bowl of sauteed mushrooms when I got home.

Dinner was very good. I cooked some chopped onion and pepper in a little olive oil and mixed it all up with some refried beans. Then I wrapped it up in a couple of brown rice (wheat & gluten-free) tortillas and topped it with a little vegan sour cream and salsa. It was filling and very yummy.

I still cannot type the word gluten-free in front of something without feeling weird. It all sounds so strange and not me at all.

Anyway, I made it through the week at the office. Tomorrow is Friday and I work from home. This could be somewhat challenging as I tend to want to snack more when I don't go into the office.

I am doing OK without my wine although I am starting to notice people on TV drinking it. I'm still nervous about the upcoming weekend but I'm trying to stay positive. After all, this isn't something I have to do. It is something I am doing because I want to.

Four down, Ten to go.
